Overview.
Relish is a tool that helps busy individuals organize and follow recipes, meal plan, grocery shop and keep track of their pantry.
Project Inspiration.
As a full-time student working multiple jobs, I had no time to meal plan, grocery shop or cook healthy meals which was frustrating. This was a common issue faced by most individuals.
Problems Identified.

The process of making healthy meals starts from home and since I lived in the United States it is the demographic I am focusing on. So it is important to understand the current cooking and eating practices in the United States. The current trends shows that:
It’s evident that Americans prefer eating out rather than cooking due to the effort and time required for cooking. Compared to home-cooked meals, meals from restaurants are:

Also, an article in the International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity, mentions that meal planners have better nutrient intake and nutritional status, higher overall food variety, and were associated with lower odds of being overweight and obese.
So there is an urgent need for efficient and healthy meal planning for busy individuals as it reduces the risk of such diseases, saves time and money.
Primary Research.
To further understand the cooking, meal planning, and eating preferences in the United States. I conducted 8 semi-structured interviews with college students and 7 semi-structured interviews with working individuals. These are the key insights we gained:

To test the viability of these ideas I created low fidelity, medium fidelity and high fidelity prototypes. I conducted usability tests with 5 representative users at each stage of the prototype. Based on the feedback received these are the changes I made on some major screens at each stage:
